Fantasizing Fall: Joie

A look from Joie Fall 2009.

Inspiration: Artist Carolyn Weltman

I adore Carolyn Weltman. I have a print of the first photo of three women half naked dressing each other in my work space. Her work can be extremely graphic and at times ere on the side of pornographic yet underlying in most of her drawings there is also a sweetness and innocence. She has an undeniable intrinsic sense of style and sexiness.

Finds by way of Finland

Thanks to two readers from Finland Ruhvana and Flanelli I have been turned onto the fantasy like designs of Cecilia Sorensen a line based out of Barcelona. The pictures are as inspiring as the frocks.

"Vive La France" Fantasizing Fall: Heimstone

God I love this line. I'm obsessing over fall right now but the spring/summer dresses are must haves. I snatched up a couple for myself last summer that I just adore. Below are a few of my favorite looks from Fall/Winter 2009. See more on their website, which is an experience in and of itself. Heimstone.com

Mourning Mayle

A dear friend of mine is here from LA working on a couple of jobs. She was doing make up for an actress the other day who was clad in a beautiful frock by Jane Mayle. Previous said friend came back raving about how incredible this dress was and we started to reflect on how sad it is that we have lost the designs of Miss Mayle. Her store on Elizabeth having recently closed and her deciding to fold the line..... I am still trying to search for any hidden old/new designs of hers. If anyone has any hints PLEASE pass them my way! Until then, we have the memories. (and a few pieces of my own).

Fantasizing Fall: 3.1 Phillip Lim

So chic and great subtle color mix with the dress and tight.

Inspiration: Gustav Klimt

One of my favorite works of Klimt. I have a print that sits above my work space. "Girlfriends". Beautiful sentiment and the colors are divine.

Little Boots: "New in Town"

Really like this song and thoroughly enjoy the very 80's impromptu choreographed dance sequences. Although I am slightly perturbed by the fact that she seems totally unfazed by the the slightly violent group orgy.... Loving the neck piece and the hair.

The Book

Scott Schuman's book is here! The incredible site The Sartorialist in book form! For all of us still a part of the tactile age.

Fantasizing Fall

Nearing the end of July I can now begin to get fall weather into my head. Although there is still much more summer fun to enjoy. Dries Van Noten seems to, in a way keep the good times of summer rollin' with the colorful palate in the fall show. I love how muted, deep and rich they are.

Fashionable Friends

I clicked on to check out The Selby only to find pictures of my friend Harold David and his impeccable home in Sydney! He is actually in NY for a visit at the moment and I saw him just last night. Although there was no mention of this. Oh so humble is he... and oh SO fabulous and dashing as well! (he's the handsome devil in the specs)

A couple of Harold's beautiful fashion pics. See more on his site
