Inspiration: Artist Cildo Meireles

I was blown away by Brazilian artists Cildo Miereles' exhibit when I saw it at Tate Modern in London last winter. I swear he has the ability to create actual universes. When you enter one of his pieces it's as if you are being transported to another plane, they are so all encompassing and brilliant. The lighting, and the fantasy verse realism are overwhelmingly impactful.

Inspiration: Maurizio Cattelan

Funny, quirky, wild, disturbing, genius. However you describe him Maurizio Cattelan is a great artist.  His interview with Michele Robecchi in Interview Magazine is an eye opening, must read.

Pina Bausch: Cafe Muller

Sadly this week we are faced with another death of an extremely talented and influential artist. Pina Bausch the groundbreaking German choreographer has passed away. Her unique choreography, oddball humor, use of speech and human movement on stage helped to define a whole new medium in Modern dance. She was a great personal hero of mine. She leaves a legacy of deeply touching and life changing choreography. I am planning a night with my college dance "crew" to watch her old performances together, and then watch old videos of ourselves attempting so desperately to be half as deep, wise or beautiful. Good night sweet Pina..
